Hi Beautiful!

I had to come by and simply say HELLO! It has been a VERY LONG TIME and SO MUCH has changed in my personal and professional life! I am so happy that there are so many of you who are still along for the ride! We are 12 days into a new year and I swear my new year has just began! Today is the 1st day of the rest of my life and I am so happy and excited about it!
SO what have I been up to??? SO MUCH and I promise to do better about sharing with you all! For now I will give you the SHORT version! Currently I am working in news television and it has been SUCH a treat! CNN DC and Bloomberg TV also in DC are 2 international networks which allow my work to be seen all over the world! As I work I am able to see my work broadcast live daily which is great for me because it's a way for me to perfect my skill and teach myself (learning from my own mistakes)... I owe a BIG THANK YOU to GOD for giving me these opportunities! Also a BIG THANK YOU is due to my friends, family, and supporters who continue to encourage and keep me lifted!!!
WOW SO MUCH has happened and I AM SO GRATEFUL for it all!! Remember a dream is just a dream! It is what you do with that dream that makes the difference! Prayer changes things and helps things happen! YET YOU my friend MUST do the work!!! Still I dream of the day that I will become great knowing that NOW I am just paying my dues!!!! SOOOO THANKFUL Beautiful!

Thought I would share a little fun shoot I did with Michael and Renee Woodward @ Studio 400! Some shoots I do NEVER end up on the site and may not go into my portfolio. For one I shoot A LOT and if I posted EVERY single image that would be too much. Secondly I am STILL learning and growing so not EVERY shoot works out the way I want it…SO! Its not that I don’t think the work is anything less than AMAZING. It’s simple that sometimes we ALL have a bad day on the court. Good thing about it is I don’t have to show you that part if I choose not to… LOL!!!
I enjoy shooting and seeing my work captured on film! Being somewhat of a “self trained” artist looking back at the images is what helps me to improve. AND yes sometimes I STILL get stuck. There are some mistakes I continue to make and have not found a solution to them (YET). Well the Beautiful part of ART is that SOMETIMES (most times) IT AINT PERFECT! PLEASE don’t get me wrong I DO want to improve and I DO want to learn MORE ways of applying makeup AND styling hair. Yet I also know that YOUR client comes to YOU because they like the way YOU do YOUR thing. SO don’t get too wrapped up in doing your skill like the next person JUST do the best YOU can do.
NOW with ALLLLLLLL that being said! HERE is MY rendition of a LADY GAGA look. Mad props to MAKEUP GOD Billy B. for his AMAZING work with Lady Gaga!!! Let me just add not only has Billy B. done Lady Gaga BUT he has done some of the MOST AMAZING names in Hollywood! Billy has to be one of the most humble artist I have met. OMG! Is that what you say when you meet one of the most amazing makeup artist in the world? Or do you break down and cry (like I ALMOST DID)!!! OR do you simply pull it together and handle yourself accordingly (like I had to)… Either way the feeling is still the same “OMG”!!!! On March 21th My Bestie and I hosted MY 1st every party! SERIOUSLY MY 1st Party EVER!!! I grew up with few friends so YEAH this was my 1st PARTAY and it was AMAZING! Thanks to ALL my friends and industry buddies for coming out and supporting Erin and I! The evening was one filled with MANY memorable moments that I will NEVER forget. The open bar had folk rather chatty and READY to network! IT had me WATCHING the door to see if this dream of mine was really about to become reality!!! Well maybe I did take a moment to chat, mingle, and DANCE!!!! In the mist of me “networking” my sister grabbed my hand, pulled my head over and said “Sam is here…”I instantly looked up and there he was! Thee Sam Fine!!! SPEECHLESS I AM!!! NOW remember its my party so I must pull myself together! After a few seconds of uncontrollable emotion I had no choice BUT to get it together! (At this point he is like 15 ft away.) FINALLY we meet and we greet and we spend an evening of socializing with our guest! Sam Fine is an AMAZING being with an AMAZING spirit! He was engaging with ALL of the guest and took photo after photo! Just the way he even walked onto the set was something to be admired! OMG STILL!!!! I MUST say THANKS SO MUCH to Mr. Sam Fine who thought enough of Erin and myself to come by and hang out! I learned SO MUCH from HIM that night! So much about where I am and where I am going! The most important lesson is YOU NEVER KNOW WHO IS WATCHING!!!!! You NEVER know who is listening and you NEVER know when ANOTHER dream will come true! DREAM BIG!!!! NEVER STOP DREAMING!!! Welcome to a dream come true!!!! In ALL my life I would have NEVER imagined that I would live out one of my wildest dreams! Honestly it was a dream that I REALLY NEVER IMAGINED would take place. NO SERIOUSLY NEVER in all my life did I think that this would be MY reality. I never even considered it! In my gut I always felt this was a job for someone like Billy B. I think I twitted all last Season for NeNe TO PLEASE let @MrBillyB do her face! Well NEVER underestimate GOD and the power HE gives YOU!!! On Wednesday March 10, 2010 I was headed to my first string of engagements with NeNe Leakes and The Housewives of Atlanta. The VERY 1st day I had the pleasure of painting face for NeNe Leakes and Lisa Wu-Hartwell. I will say that for my 1st celebrity solo gig I did WELL! I was accompanied my by BF and assistant for the day Makeup Expert Erin Bailey. Day 1 was a Red Carpet for Bravo. Day 2 Bravo Commercial AND “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen”. At this point I am in CREATIVE MODE FOR LIFE all because NeNe LOVES COLOR and DRAG!!! After the show we had a lovely dinner and back to Brooklyn I went. Sleep 3 hours and up to work ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Up for Television ALL DAY @ CNN NeNE appeared on HLN’s “Showbiz Tonight” and “Jane Valez”!!!! 5pm in rainy NYC it’s a WRAP!!! This is the SUMMARY of MY DREAM which was a gift from a DEAR Makeup Artist Friend and Mother who Is REALLY SHOWING ME THE WAY!!! Thanks Ma For ALL you DO for me and countless others!! MAY WE continue to deliver AMAZING work for generations to come!!! I LOVE YOU AND Thanks for this opportunity! This Job my 1st BIG GIG Dedicated to YOU!!!!

OK so it has been more than 2 months since my last post. Yes I have a long list of reasons/excuses for why I have not posted any blog updates. I will take your time into consideration and keep all of that to MYSELF! As you can see the blog is in a complete disarray and I am trying hard to get it together. If you follow me on twitter you know that I have worked with some of the most amazing photographers in DC! Well God has allowed me yet another chance to do my thang honey! There is nothing more humbling then having these great master photographers willing and ready to work with you at any time. Recently I worked with Rodney Young who has given me yet another chance to shine. Rodney is by far one of the TOP photographers in DC. I think most people I know would concur. NOW these images are not the ones that I picked (hint RODNEY!!!!) but they are still amazing!!! I think I am SO HARD on my work now because these photographers are expecting GREAT things from me! They pushing ya boy hard and I am ready to go deep. I am happy to do what I can! Well I hope you ENJOY!!! OH yeah and before I forget the fashion styling was done by none other than my friend in training (LOL) Walter Reed. Hello Beautiful

If you follow WarrenBeautiful then you already know that I have a major thing for Yulia Gorbanchenko my photographer friend. Yulia is a very big fan of Warren Beautiful and she is one of the best people I know period. This young woman is currently working in NYC on her Masters in Photography. For some strange reason we have this insane chemistry and connection that I TOTALLY live for. Yulia gives me creative freedom to “DO ME.”
These images were shot @ Coney Island in NY. Let me be the 1st to say “IT WAS COLD” very cold… I did makeup inside of Duncan Donuts and hair out in the cold. Yulia was a bit under the weather and she was not feeling well AT ALL!!! In spite of all we went through we still got some AMAZING SHOTS!!! I am very excited about this shoot because it shows just how much we both have grown over the past last year or so. Thanks to the model for withstanding the cold and also to the Fashion Stylist for all of his hard work and great fashion finds.

God works in AMAZING ways! You see I prayed that he would allow me to work with my new client!! I seriously went to bed at night thinking about this girl and how bad I wanted to do her makeup! You see I was introduced to her as Angel the biggest video model ever… To DC she is a icon one who has been seen in numerous music videos. To me she has not only become client but also friend. I could sit here and go on and on about what she has accomplished at the tender age of 22 but I choose to let her site do the talking! What I will share is that she must be one of the easiest girls I ever had to paint. Seriously doing Lola’s makeup is a cakewalk. She is SO freaking pretty that really it doesn’t take much. Lola Monroe is said to be the next queen of hip hop, call me crazy but I believe it! This girl has mad skills in the rap game and she is respected by most of the heavy hitters in the game. Not just another pretty face she is a businesswoman about her GRIND!!! She is doing all she can to make it to the top with her drive I am convinced she will! Based on my life’s experience I know she will make because determination and belief pays off every time!! Please guys listen to her music and follow our journey as we both take this world be storm!!! Recently Bo the photographer, Walter the Fashion Stylist, and Myself embarked on a crazy journey! We worked a shoot till like 5 in the morning yes honey I know that is insane. Let me say I think this is one of my best shoots ever. My new roommate Saleem was there to hold me down and follow my directions to a T. Walter was putting the garments together swiftly and professionally. And I was the conductor of the whole thing as usual (you know I love CONTROL). Bo didn’t disappoint AT ALL!!! He REALLY showed out on this one. The model is signed with Ford Europe and she was the sweetest model I have worked with in a long time. Naw I take that back all models are sweet to me because they know I hold their beauty in my hand. I want to thank my team for holding me down on this shoot it was amazing!!!! ENJOY!!!!

In this business we work hard to perfect our skills in order to stay up on the latest in makeup and hair styling. The best way for me to grow is to actually see my work on film. If you are an up and coming artist I would suggest you do the same (GET YOUR WORK ON FILM). Once you see your creation then you know what you need to tweak in order to get better at what you do. I test with as many GOOD photographers as I can. Sadly there are not many good photographers in the area so that can be a challenge. I did a test with Katy of Ambient Eye and here are the results! I only did hair on this shoot with makeup by an amazing local artist.

Let me first begin by saying this is the longest it took me to post anything on my blog. This particular interview is near and dear to my heart therefore it had to be perfect! I hope that you all find this post interesting and insightful as this artist means the world to me.
When it comes to creating beautiful celebrity faces this woman has taken the entertainment world by storm. With names like J Hud (my FAVORITE celebrity of ALL TIME), Our President Barack Obama, Musical Icon Kanye West, and the Rev. Jesse Jackson on her book Tia Dantzler is working hard to maintain and raise the standard of amazing beauty worldwide. Her work has been featured in countless national and international publications with Essence, GQ, LIFE, People, and Vogue just to name A FEW. Tia Dantzler has beat faces for countless Red Carpets and appearances. She has worked the Academy Awards, the Grammy’s, and the Golden Globe’s. Just when you thought sister has done it all turn on the TV and see her work on Oprah! Tia’s success has been catapulted beyond her widest dreams due to persistence, patients, and determination. I remember reading about Tia a few years ago in a hair publication who had any idea of what was about to take place? If you are a BIG Jennifer Hudson fan as I am then you already know just how SICK this young woman’s makeup game really is. Not once have we seen Jennifer’s makeup overdone… Actually Tia hits it out of the ballpark EVERY… Single… TIME!!!! She has learned the formula to creating a perfect canvas, phenomenal eyes, all with a genuine heart. Even with her calendar filled with dates all over the world Tia still finds time to entertain up and coming artists like myself. A typical day in the life of this makeup guru is more random than routine. From music videos, to movies, or even a premiere this lady has one crazy schedule. Not to mention she has a husband at home who has been more than supportive of everything that Tia is involved in. Over the past like maybe 3 months or so (I THINK) Tia and I have become really cool Twitter Friends. She always finds time to say just one thing that keeps me “believing in the dream”… Now it is my turn to just say THANKS to TIA Dantzler for continuing to inspire me and countless others who find inspiration in her success. As we continue to watch her grow and accomplish more we will pray that GOD continue to walk with Mother Tia on this journey!!!! It is amazing just how technology has allowed US to connect!!!! Always know that I am SO HAPPY that Tia Dantzler is one of MY GREAT Makeup Artist friends. HEY BEAUTIFUL!!!

I MISSED yall with all my little heart… YES I DID! Did I tell you just how much it means to me to know that you guys are reading the blog and interested in what I am all about. Recently I have been reminded that lots of folks do find their way to this blog and I need to be a little more mindful of the thoughts I share. Now beautiful don’t worry I still plan to be the Warren that you all respect and love! The stories will still be interesting and funny so don’t worry about that either! Hair and makeup is my passion and sometimes it can seem like I am just having fun. The bottom line is this is my livelihood and I must consider the client. OK OK OK enough of the serious stuff lets get down to business. What have I been up to? I have been doing a lot assisting in NYC with @JohnnyLavoy, working in DC, and healing from surgery. Johnny is the bestest boss ever! He is SO SPECIAL TO ME ON SO MANY LEVELS and I am so thankful to have him as a friend! I have also been contacting some potential clients about some amazing opportunities (let’s pray). Researching my gift more and more each day has been keeping me busy. I just completed an interview with the AMAZING @TiaDantzler which I shall post soon. Tia was very moved by the interview and HONEY so was I. Mother Dantzler is a BEAUTIFUL spirit and a TRUE Artist not afraid to share all she knows!!! WE LOVE HER! Finally I did a shoot once again with Yulia G. and we tried to turn it out again. We felt like we were not getting the look in the 1st shoot and actually I think we did. WHAT DO YOU THINK??? The 1st look was the natural beauty and the 2nd look is goth edgy 60’s bob you know what I like!!!

As many of you MAY know I had the chance to work with the beautiful and talented Miss LeToya Luckett. All praises to the Father for continuing to bless me and preparing me for my destiny. Special thanks to a dear mentor and friend MR AJ Crimson for giving me yet another chance to share his world. Not too many artists just send you on assignments like that so YES I am FOREVER grateful for AJ’s continued support. LeToya was a jewel to work with and when God sends me my own celebrity clients I pray they are all just as real and joyful as she was. Although the exchange for words was few I felt right at home with her and her entourage. Letoya has crazy amazing skin which made my life so easy. This day was totally a dream come true for me and I trust that it is only a taste of what God has in store for me!!! MAY HE CONTINUE TO SHOWER blessings on me as I will continue to chase the Dream!!! YALL GOTTA buy LeToya’s NEW CD OMG it is SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! I just gave my sister her copy today with a list of my favorite songs. We were both laughing at how almost EVERY track is my favorite! I LOVE BEAUTY AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE MUSIC!!! When the New Chrisette came out I knew from 1st listen she had something. When it comes to shooting on location I don’t know any photographer who understands natural light better than my dear friend Yulia Gorbachenko. We met maybe about a year a go at a gathering for photographers. I did the makeup and hair for the girl and the group of photographers shot it. Yulia and I have worked together numerous times since then. It is SO AMAZING to see how much we have both grown since our first engagement. Well here we are again in the BIG Apple and I AM LOVING IT!!! Every time my feet hit the pavement I feel RIGHT at home. The people, the food, the crazy ass taxi drivers, the nicest nasty city in the world is NY. Amidst all of what seems to be a big ball of confusion there is a common thread that reaches ALL, MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!! Needless to say just like many of you I still get excited to head to that place where people actually do sleep. Yes even I get anxious to arrive in the land where BIG things happen and DREAMS become reality. So here we are again for the second time within the past week BACK in the city I LOVE. Those of you who REALLY know me know there is NO PLACE I would rather be. Thanks to Johnny my DEAR friend I am doing it again. Living and working in NEW YORK with Bluefly.Com and models from International agencies what more could one ask for? You see for my friend Johnny Lavoy this is his life, like a sixth sense of sorts. As one of the top artist in the industry providing the TOTAL package Johnny does BOTH hair and makeup. Represented by FORD Johnny has unlimited access to what most of us dream of. DID I MENTION that he aint playing no games in the hair OR makeup category. (ForgeT grammar) When asked to MAKE IT HAPPEN J.L. is bringing it HARD every single time!!! THE BIGGEST part of working with him to me (outside out the bond) is the fact that we think SO MUCH alike and SO different at the same time. Its CRAZY and so are we so who gives a care. ENOUGH LOVE I know yall just wanna know What Happened??!!!
Well I arrived at noon and model 1 was already done. I assisted on hair for Model #2 and watched the SICKEST MAKEUP DEMO EVER!!!!! It was the real deal as I have NEVER seen it before!!!! Johnny single handedly BANGED out the sexiest not to heavy JUST JUST RIGHT DEEP INTENSE purple smoky eye I have EVER SEEN DONE IN MY LIFE! In the photos you will see Johnny using a beautiful MAKEUP FOREVER pallet created especially for him by the WONDERFUL folks over @ MUFE. When it comes to TOOLS he was working with the Billy B brushes from beginning to end. Youngblood is a mineral line that I FEEL may be better than MAC from what I see. As Johnny continued to add product after product to perfect his canvas I was sitting there mentally taking notes. Though most of the lessons I am learning from Johnny Lavoy are far beyond painting a beautiful face. My boy is passionate about his craft down to the detail of the packing of his kit. His dedication to the speedy and precise delivery of beauty makes him one of the most requested stylists in this business. MOVE ON WITH THE LOOK PLEASE!!! SORRY!!!! Next Johnny applies the luxurious Kissable Couture lip gloss to the lips to help make them soft, “kissable”, and of course BEAUTIFUL!!! For this look my boy decided to go with the shade “Forest.” The gloss was long lasting and the color was JUST RIGHT! Now we move into hair, which is where I was able to help out. With the Sedu Revolution Pro flat iron he killed this messy wavy look. Sedu makes the best flat iron on the market right now. The price point is GREAT compared to GHD and FHI AND you are getting a better quality iron. Once Egein (again for those of you who don’t speak Ghetto) JOHNNY hooked ya boy tha heck up. OK so while I was in NYC Johnny introduced me to an AMAZING photographer who has a REALLY Hott assistant! Well On my last day in the city we actually were able to work together. Let me mention that I had to pass up a chance to work with Makeup ICON Father Billy B. How does one do that?? I mean that was some crazy mess hontee on a crazy HOT day. Indeed it worked out for all parties involved at the end of the day. I was able to shoot with Daniel McCabe who is so smooth you will never know that YOU are even working in the building. Daniel has swag like a "brother" AKA black man and sounds like one on the phone too. He has to be one of the NICEST, REAL-IST, Most HUMBLE photographers that I know. Its one thing to be good behind the camera, but when you can make people feel appreciated THEN you have really done your job. I REALLY must wish every one I work with ALL the SUCCESS IN THE world!!! Thanks Egein Daniel for having me and I CANT WAIT TO DO IT Egein Brutha!!!!!!!!! It would be really fucked up of me to over look the other folks that were on set that day as well. Mornin’ Beautiful!

I am up and EVE this morning trying to DO a little somethin somethin!!! By now I am sure that many of you already know that I went to do Seventeen Magazine as a assistant with my brother, father, and dear friend Mr. Johnny Lavoy. You guys may also know that this man was nice enough to allow LIL OL ME to stay the week in his Manhattan apartment. These days you just don’t meet too many folks who will allow a total stranger the chance to come into ones private world. Not only did Jonny let me stay BUT he gave me the key and allowed me to remain there as he went to his other home in Conneticut. Now PLEASE DON’T get NO ideas hontee IT AINT NO HOTEL FREE FOR ALL!!!! YOU CANNOT CALL HIM UP AND ASK FOR THE KEYS!!!! I AM SPECIAL!!!! SORRY HONTEES BACK UP!!!!!!!!! You know black folks honey we will call and let Johnny have it. Then he's gonna look at me like "WHAT IN THE WORLD!! did you say on that blog of yours." However had I not shared with you my total experience I would have felt cheated in a way. Anywho I want to thank Heather Muir the beauty editor over at 17 for having us. She and her staff were amazing and they really took good care of us. OK so I have been SUPER BUSY BUT hontee my Grandmother is now viewing my page. SO I am a bit more concerned with my site only because I want her to see my work. Those of you who really know me know that I have a VERY Special place in my heart for family. Although I don’t get to see them as much as I want to I LOVE MY FAMILY YALL!!!! HEY Grandma (whom I talk to like 10 times a day SERIOUSLY)!!!
So yeah I have been busy like shit and I MUST PRAISE GOD for ALL THE WONDERFUL BLESSINGS HE is giving to me!
Ideally I would like to go through each and every experience in GREAT detail but the odds of me actually completing that task are slim to none! Now if you see something that you may have questions about then JUST hit me up and I will TRY my best to reply. SOOOOOO I have had a gang of photo shoots, my 1st music video for this fine young rapper, my 1st national publication 17 magazine, a week in NYC with Johnny Lavoy, dinner with Billy B, and all kinds of other things. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that I may actually be living my dreams. I am finding that it is SUPER easy to make your dream a reality if you just keep chasing. Natural Beauty!!!!!

Today’s beauty has come a long way from yesterday’s idea of glam. It’s funny because although we are traveling in a totally different direction when it comes to makeup and hair, all the basics still remain the same. Bold daring women still wear red lips and matching red nails. Black eyeliner and mascara are still every 15 year olds idea of a complete makeup kit, or at least a good start. Airbrush nail designs, pink, green, and yellow OPI still rocks in every nail salon in town. With everything from yesteryear still pumping hard today you may wonder what’s new in beauty. Well honey let me be the 1st to tell you real quickly, NOTHING is NEW OK! The color wheel has not changed so trust me the colors are still basically the same. Hair is still getting cut with clippers, razors, and shears so that’s nothing new. As you know I aint here to just shatter all your makeup and beauty dreams so let me get to the point. Yes there are lots of new products, new lines, and new technologies when it comes to beauty. Thank GOD for the many companies who have done so much to bring us the best in quality hair and makeup products over the years. BUT BUT BUT beautiful, the most important part of beauty today is knowing when enough is enough. To know when to pull out some of those makeup tricks from drag queens past. To know when to avoid liner and lipstick all together is what beauty has become. To be politely flirtatious with color is what beauty has become. No matter what techniques you use remember to BLEND that crease, those cheeks, and that lip liner to the MAX. It all about beautiful healthy looking skin, and doing what you feel everywhere else. Now PLEASE DONT ask me “I am a NC50 and I was wondering what shade blush should i use?” Well no shade Honey use a mirror and use products you think looks good on you. Don’t listen to your hating girlfriends, or the lil chick at the counter who just started. Do some research and choose practical colors that you think will look nice. With the right application and a good foundation (perfect skin – my new fav foundation) you should be good to go. Now here is some new work for you!!!

How in the world have you people been doing??? Well let me say there has been SO MUCH going in my neck of the woods. I am so excited about all the new and exciting events that have taken place for me over the past few weeks. It is all so overwhelming that i really dont know where to begin. Beautiful

I know it has been a while since we have communicated. Things have been a whirlwind over the past few week but I am yet holding it in the road. Praise God for all of His many blessings and for great friends like each of you. Lately I have been keeping busy with clients and shoots and it has all been totally amazing. I MUST thank God for this gift and the ability to be able to use it daily. So many people work on a job for a paycheck. Me I live out my passion for fun. When I think of what it means to actually live your passion I think of THE GREATEST entertainer to ever walk this earth. Throughout his 50 years on this earth Michael Jackson went through so much scrutiny. He had just as many highlights as he did lowlights yet through it all he carried on. We all sat back and watched as MJ grew from a little black boy from Gary into an interesting person representing the entire world. We watched him as he was subjected to the vicious lies and rumors that circulate through the media. We all were there when Michael faced those criminal charges for sexual molestation. Honestly I wish it all would have just gone away. Yes to the average person one could argue that there could have been something wrong with Mike. But that would be an average man judging a man who was far greater than average. Did we somehow feed into the medias destruction of the greatest entertainer in history? Don’t act like you were not trying to hear it when it was going on. I know I was being a little nosey too so don’t feel bad. In spite of all the things that I heard and saw I really never cast an opinion either way. After all we were not there so who the we to have a opinion either way? On top of all the drama this guy was clearly vulnerable and prone to people trying to make a quick dollar off of his hard work. To think someone would put a child up to no good just to get a few million. Well I guess that’s not such a bad idea??? No but really it is a totally twisted way of thinking. It is my belief that MJ is very normal in comparison to how he was raised. I mean lets be honest Michael just may be the most recognized person in the world, how normal is that? This man sold more albums than anyone will ever sell EVER IN LIFE… how normal is that? Mike broke all racial barriers, continental boarders, and lived a life of extravagance beyond anything most people could ever think of… how normal is that??? Yes this man was just a man but NOTHING about his life was normal. Even after death MJ came back to top the charts once again. Let me take that back. I do believe that there was much normalcy in Jackson’s life but I think we were looking so hard that we didn’t notice it. You see people are attracted to people they can relate to. That was the beauty of MJ is that he has so many faces. Each of us can find at least one thing about MJ that we can relate to no matter what walk of life we came from. Michael had a genuine concern for the human race and I trust that he really loved children. I honestly don’t think that Michael Jackson had the courage or the heart to hurt a fly. I do feel that he felt blessed to be able to live the life that he lived. It is my belief that Jackson was to some extent amazed himself by what he had accomplished. A big part of me knows that MJ was so thankful for all the blessings that he received in his lifetime. We all know that to whom much is give much is also required. As with Michael Jackson there were lots of people around him who required much from him. Mike was used and abused by so many people yet in our hearts we must forgive them all as he would have. In spite of all he had been through MJ was still able to leave behind a legacy that will live on beyond us all. His musical influence surpasses any negative idea that anyone may have of the megastar. We thank you Michael Jackson for all you did the good and the bad. I thank Mike for showing me that I don’t have to add up to what most people consider to be normal. I can be me no matter what the definition of normal may be. After all what is NORMAL anymore? Thanks to MJ I can be all that I can be ME and that’s that…

I Bought Hair Oil!!!!!!

Ok so last week I took the Mega Bus from DC to NYC for the day to attend IBS which is a Beauty Show… I think IBS must have been like the biggest one on the west coast at some point… the bus ride was cool I slept most of the way so maybe that helped. My salon owner had a free ticket waiting for me once I got there so I saved $85 off the break… Went inside the show which seemed like a sea of products and master stylist (I am sure they all were not master stylist some just master salespeople)… There was everything from wigs to foot scrubbers… Must have been 25 makeup companies (no major ones that you would know of)… I saw a rack of flat irons, brushes, blow dryers, etc… Products to make your hair curly like Miss Jessie’s and stuff to make your weave last 3 months… Beautiful I was overwhelmed with all the foolishness around me… Lucky me I have been to many hair shows so I am quickly able to separate the necessary from the useless… I bought a new blow dryer from RUSK and let me tell you I have been burning folks all week… The new blowtorch is not to be denied she gets super hot and I love it… I also purchased some makeup that I didn’t need at all… My biggest find was Moroccan Hair Oil… I love this stuff it smells amazing and not to mention it is weightless… Use as much as you want and it will not weigh the hair down… So now the Moroccan Oil is my new best friend… Simply apply a dime sized amount to damp hair and proceed with styling as usual… Trust me you are going to LOVE this one seriously… I often use a little more when I am about to curl and a drop when I am done… Now you see I have used a lot and I still get movement and shine but not that wet shine. Moroccan Oil gives you a natural healthy shine and she smells AMAZING!!!!!! GO GET IT NOW!!!!!

Ok my beautiful people… I know I know… ya boy has been missing in action honey… yeah my schedule is wack, therefore I must do what I gotta do… Last month I did receive 2 emails with QUESTIONS for me…. You guys just don’t know how happy that made me feel… I guess you say “well if you were so excited what the heck took you so long to respond”… told you I been really working my fingers off… but it’s a good thing cause I love what I do and with every experience I get better… So anyways I received and email from a beautiful gal Miss. DE… she says that she has naturally curly hair and she wanted to know how to showcase the natural curl and for hair to not look dry once the water dries out… OK so here is the deal you have a little process that you need to go through in order to maximize the curl pattern. 1. Shampoo with a moisturizing and conditioning shampoo… This will leave the hair hydrated and help to bring out the natural curl… 2. Apply a generous amount of conditioner… Design Essentials Stimulations would be nice… I am not a big Design Essentials fan but I like this conditioner… Comb the conditioner with a wide tooth comb or a Denman Brush… 3. Rinse very well with cool water… HERE IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION: finally you should apply a heavy leave in agent that will sculpt and define the curl and prevent the hair from swelling and frizzing up… Cantu Leave In is good and so is Miss Jessie’s “Curly Pudding”… The “Curly Pudding” comes in 3 sizes and she work VERY WELL… you will need to work lots of the product in but it works well… Saturate the hair with either product and brush it with your Denman then pick it out a little with your wide tooth comb the be on your way… Let me know how it works out…
SECOND QUESTION… Miss TL wanted to know if it is good to go to the Dominican Salon to get your hair done… OK so here is the deal… Let me first say their pressouts are on 1000…. They are not intimidated by texture like many black stylist and they get you T Bone straight… If a texture is too course many of us (black stylist) run to the relaxer rather than struggling to do a blow out... thanks to my big sister who’s hair is VERY course I have a lot of experience with the best of them… not to mention that I work in a salon where 50% of the clients have natural hair… so I can do a blow out blindfolded… To get to the point yes the Dominicans are good I think I said that… and yes their process can damage your hair… but just like anything there are some good ones who know something about maintaining healthy hair… not many but a few… the thing with a pressout is that you MUST be sure that you are conditioning the hair VERY WELL!!!!! I would suggest a deep conditioner prior to the service and again when you shampoo… Be sure that you have your thermal protect spray leave in…. CHI has some great products for protection (trust me the Dominicans aint using that (and its cheap))… Finally let me say that every black stylist aint doing no amazing pressout either so you really have to look around… let me know where you are maybe I know someone… good luck finding a professional who can help you maintain your tresses… look me up when you come to DC!!!

Just Say NO To HAIR OILS

I was talking to my little cousin Jalisa tonight she mentioned something to me that I thought I would share with you. Jalisa is considering getting color and she already knows that it is going to dry her hair out. She was saying that she wanted to get a light oil that she could apply to her hair to help lock in the moisture. Moist oils can be light if you only use a little. Any product in excess can cause you to have a nasty build-up, which is not BEAUTIFUL. Like I told you before if your hair is dry you need to condition and treat on a regular. If you are natural and want to rock a blow out this product is good for you too trust me. CHI Silk Infusion is an amazing serum, which I would suggest you use rather than your hair oil. With this serum a little goes a very long way. The most amazing part of this CHI product is that it WILL NOT leave a build up. I use Silk Infusion with EVERY client. My normal process is to shampoo, condition, and then mix a pea size on leave-in conditioner with Silk Infusion. Apply you mixture to damp hair then blow dry. Once the hair is dry I apply a little more Silk Infusion then I press the hair with the FHI Iron. TRUST ME is you do this your hair will be more than amazing!!!! TRUST ME ON THIS ON… This product is my new best friend and it is not that expensive so go get some so that you can BE BEAUTIFUL!!!! MUAH!!!!!!

The Look!!!

This is yet another amazing makeup and hair look created by yours truly. As you can see I kept the brows kind of unmaintained. Sometime a natural brow works best when you are going overboard in other areas. I am sure that by now you see that I love doing smokey eyes. Because I am trying to master the smokey look I tend to do it often. You can refer to my other smokey eye work to get the details on how to recreate this look. The basic rule of thumb is that if you are going to do a dramatic eye you need to do a more muted lip. For the lips I decided to fill them in with a rose liner and apply a clear gloss on top. Liner on the lips tends to last longer than just lipstick. I stacked two pairs of dramatic lashes, which helps the eye makeup look even more dramatic. The skin looks pretty clean although I used a lot of product. Most editorial makeup is a lot of nothing to create a flawless look.
With the hair I did ribbon curls (spirals) with a 2-inch barrel curler. Once the curls were complete I finger combed everything forward to create volume in the front. Back combing the hair slightly to add a little more fullness. Pining the hair randomly will secure the style and help it last. After you have everything in position you can spray it with a medium hold holding spray followed with a bit of shine spray.

Hey beautiful I know it has been a while BUT I am not allowed to take my MAC to work anymore. Most nights I work late and when I finally get home I am fit for the bed. The response I have received from my blog has been tremendous and I really appreciate your support. NOW on with the reports!!!!!
One of the biggest complaints that I receive at my salon is the sight of dry looking hair. In order to correct the issue of dry hair you must get down to the root of the problem. In most cases dry hair is a sign of over-processed or color treated hair, which drains the hair of its natural moisture. Once the hair has been robbed of its moisture it can be rather difficult to get it back on point. Dry hair will break very easy so you must be sure to handle it with care and condition it regularly. I would highly recommend that you use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner daily. Follow up your daily shampoo with a weekly treatment some people like hot oil some like moisturizing treatments. No matter what treatment you decide to go with you should wrap the hair with the treatment and saran wrap then process under a hot dryer for 30 minutes. The saran wrap will help to steam the moisture into the hair and make for a deeper conditioning.
Now most of us need a daily shine more of a quick fix spray. There are many spray shine products on the market now. Silicone based sprays seem to have become the most popular in recent years. The silicone sprays can be a bit heavy and the light ones don’t last long. The other option is oil sheen spray, which is the worse type of shine to use on your hair. Oil sheen has alcohol and can dry the hair out even more so you would want to stay away from that. My new favorite shine spray is Shine On by Biosilk. Shine On is very light but it provides the most amazing shine. Be careful because a little goes a long way so you don’t want to over do it. This spray will protect your hair from the sun so it is like sunscreen for the hair. Shine On also helps to cut down on frizz. If you want you hair to look polished and to SHINE ON then I hope you go get the Biosilk shine spray.

Creating the warrenBbeautiful blog has been such an amazing experience. Over the course of the past 2 weeks I have been contacted by some of the most amazing people in the industry. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share with all of you my first interview with the dynamic AJ Crimson. AJ is a visionary and makeup artist to the stars. His work has placed him in a league of his own. This morning I arose to a text for Mr. Crimson “Can we do the interview now” I immediately responded, “YES”. A few moments later I received a phone call from AJ himself who was calling me from the set of a new Belvedere Ad campaign with recent Grammy winner Estelle in New York City. Answering the phone with the morning still in my voice it took a few minutes to get my computer up. AJ clearly realizing that his text woke me up asked “Do you want me to call you a little later?” You already know that I was not going to delay this interview any further. I started with my first question asking him how long he had been in the business. It amazes me just how much AJ has accomplished in his 6 years of service and experience. His brushes have dusted the faces of Brandy, Fergie, Keyisha Cole, Estelle, Hillary Duff, and former Destiny Child member now platinum selling solo artist LeToya. AJ and I spoke about his first experience working with a celebrity. Good thing for him is that his first celeb was someone he knew before she made her big break. Crimson was working with Will I AM on a catalog when he first met Fergie. Over time they became friends and kept in contact with one another. When it was time to shoot the “Where Is The Love” video AJ was the man chosen as the Key Artist. The Black Eyed Peas video was Crimson’s first major project and Fergie was his first celebrity client. He did admit that experience was a bit scary and “there was a lot going on with so many people to please”. During the shooting of this video AJ found himself so far away from the times that he was paid $75 for his first gig. That first job created so much excitement and made AJ realize that he could actually get paid for doing makeup. Getting paid now he is but for AJ it is not just about the money. Crimson moved to Los Angeles with just $400 to his name and you see how persistence pays off. Because AJ didn’t give up he is now working regularly with hip-hop’s newest British sensation Estelle. If you saw the 51st Annual Grammys you saw Estelle perform with Kanye West. Her look was on 1000 and AJ was the mastermind behind it. “The dress was like glass and very futurist so I wanted to recreate the look of glass in the makeup without using silver” says Crimson. He pulled inspiration from Audrey Hepburn with the winged liner one of his signature techniques. Crimson says “I wanted the makeup to be minimal but impactful” and I was totally impacted by this work. So much so I had to text AJ the night of the Grammys to congratulate him on a beautiful makeup. Then it dawned on me that I was connected to someone who was actually doing makeup at the Grammys… OK… AJ finds his inspiration in many places from Art to Vogue. Tim Walker is one of Crimson’s favorite photographers and he looks to him for inspiration as well. There is so much on the horizon for this star makeup artist. He is looking forward to pumping LeToya with a fresh look for her new album. Crimson says “It’s all about color with LeToya this time around I want to do something light, fresh, and polished.” He says the he will be using the new Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation which he describes as butter on the skin. AJ also cannot live without Dior Show and Blackout Mascaras. You may have guessed that the Kissable Couture Collection is another one of his most favorite products. I would defiantly suggest that you try his amazing line of luxury lip-glosses. Crimson mention that he thought he was done being an artist working for artist once his line came out. Now his artist flame has been rekindled with his collaborations with his newest clients. AJ Crimson has reached the point in his career where is more able to express his feelings and artist ideas on a variety of amazing performing artist. Gone are the days when every job was a job to be done. Now AJ is able to be more selective with his work and assignments. He says that his me time is when he is busy working however he still finds time in his busy schedule to enjoy friends and family. AJ realizes how much he as grown in the past six years and is looking forward to what the future has to offer. Currently Crimson is working on a book and a 13 episode web series. When it comes to music AJ is currently listening to one of my favorite songs “Hello” by Beyonce. I asked my dear friend to share some advice with those of us who are interested in becoming celebrity makeup artist. “You should focus on being the best you can be. Don’t focus on the title just keep you mind set on greatness.” I personally want to thank AJ Crimson for taking the time out to give me a wakeup call. Actually he helped me to get to work on time. NUNU the model!!!

This is a beauty look that I did for a new model friend of mine Miss Nunu. I really just want to share with all of you my process. First of all we started with a model that has the most amazing skin. Perfect skin is something that money cannot buy honey. On second thought if you don’t mind spending some money you can perfect the skin that you have. So we began with a little moisture to get the skin conditioned for the makeup application. There are many moisturizers on the market and they all do different things. Use the product of your choice the one that works best for you. Once the skin is ready I start my process working with the eyes first. Beginning with the eyes first makes for easier clean up of unwanted eyeshadow from the skin. With Nunu I begin the eye by perfecting the brow. I used spiked brow pencil by MAC and a bit of a reddish brown eye shadow and a angle brush to perfect the brow. When filling in the brows you don’t want to go too dark. Dark brows draw too much attention to the brow and looks animated. Once the brows are complete you can then apply a thing layer of eye primer to the lid. In this case I used MAC eye paint in bamboom with the 252 brush. I then go back in with a really light concealer and highlight under the brow bringing it downward towards the crease. Blend Blend Blend.. Use a 224 brush to blend the base with concealer. Now you can apply the lid color with a 234 brush I used MAC Woodwinked shadow on the lid. Pack the lid color on heavy and blend it up into the crease with a 224 brush. In the crease I used MAC Browndown shadow with a 224. On the corner I used MAC Embark and Carbon with a 219 brush blended with the 224. Line the upper and lower lid with Blacktrack fluidline. With the skin I did a lot of contouring and highlighting. To highlight I went the MAC Stick Foundation in NC 35 under the eyes in the forehead and the bridge of the nose. In the cheeks and around the hairline I contoured with the stick in NW 55. I used the stick in Nunu’s skin one on the remainder of the face. BLEND BLEND BLEND with a 109 brush. Apply bronzer in Refined Deeper Bronze. Blush in Raizin and Ambering Rose, which are amazing for darker skin tones. Highlight a little more with a bronzy pigment and a fan brush. I went with a nude lip using MAC BBQ liner and a little lip conditioner. Complete the look with corner lashes, which are my favorite!!! There you have it a natural beauty look for a dark skin girl… If you have any other questions feel free… BE BEAUTIFUL!!!

Well beautiful you know that I am SO IN LOVE with Jennifer Hudson. I would assume that by now you guys think that I am in love with so many different people and things. On a more personal note I do truly respect EVERYTHING that J Hud stands for. She and her fiancé looked stunning at that 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Jennifer performed a very emotional rendition of my new favorite track from her self-titled album. The song “You Pulled Me Through” brought tears to her eyes as she gave it all she had. Miss. Hudson appeared at the Grammy’s in a very cute black, whit, and grey dress, which I thought was amazing. Her eyes looked totally amazing honey she was pumping!!! It looked like Jennifer had MAC Vex on the lid mixed with Idol Eyes. Her crease was very dark giving Black Tied with Carbon on the corner to add more drama. It is my guess that her eye could have been lined with Blacktrack fluid line and Engraved Pencil. For the lips I see a Mahogany liner with Viva Glam 6 gloss. On the skin Jennifer wore very natural foundation with Pink Bronze Pigment as a highlighter. During her performance J Hud went for a snatched pony and a very nice bun for the hair. This young starlet never fails to entertain me. Jennifer girl you burned it up and yes you were pumping all night. Warren B. Keep You Eyes On!!!

Ok so I no longer work at a makeup counter I am working fulltime in a salon. As clients come in to get serviced I cant help but to peep their makeup. One of the most common issues I am noticing is with the eyes. It seems that some ladies are having difficulty keep their eye makeup on. If you are one that’s having issues keeping the cosmetic on the skin I have a solution. EYE PRIMER or EYE BASE… MAC has the most amazing base in the world. Actually there are two to choose from eye paint or paint pots. Now the eye paint is more emollient and is amazing for all skin types. For lighter skin go with bare canvas… darker skin go with bamboom… Paint pots are less messy and a little less emollient with a plethora of colors to choose from. Basically you just want to use a firm brush to apply a small amount of base to the lid before you begin to apply the shadow. Beautiful I promise this one little step will help your makeup last much longer. Good LUCK and Be Beautiful.

Ok folks so how about this for a shout out… If you have been following my blog over that past week or so then you know I LOVE Jonny Lavoy. Not in love in a physical way just in love with Him and his contribution to my craft. I blogged about how his work has help me to develop as an artist. My respect for Johnny goes deep all because I know that not only is he good he is also REAL!!!! I could go on and on about how much I live for him and how good his work is. Truth is if you have never seen his work for yourself then my words will never measure up to the real thing. I guess by now you are wondering what the hell I am talking about… Well see Johnny Lavoy mentioned MY name on one of his amazing youtube videos. Hopefully you like the video a much as I enjoyed hearing JL say my name. Johnny totally just made my entire month and I plan to share it with as many people as I can. When I think of today’s hair designers there are two that really stand out in my mind. That is crazy because I have two favorite makeup artists and two favorite hairstylists. If you are looking for the best flatiron known to man try the FHI Runway. You guys already know that I have expensive taste and this iron will set you back a bit. The good thing about the FHI is that it is the best!!! This iron will straighten ANY hair type. Extremely coarse hair is no match for the FHI Runway. CHI nor GHD can stand next to this ceramic tool. I would suggest that you not use this iron everyday unless your hair is natural. If you have a relaxer do not use this iron on a daily bases. Heat protectant products are ideal to be used in conjunction with your FHI irons. You can create the most amazing ribbon curls (spirals) with the FHI Iron. Open a magazine, turn on the television, log on to your laptop and you will see just how much we are obsessed with beauty. Beyond beauty today’s culture seems to be looking for perfection. With every advertisement and marketing strategy we see the worlds most beautiful faces trying to sell us something. Society has made looks and a perfected look top priority. All this attention being placed on beauty has caused many of us to run to the nearest cosmetic surgeon and attempt to perfect our image. I will be the first to say that I AM a VERY BIG FAN of cosmetic surgery. I think it can do a lot to improve your appearance and the way that you feel about yourself. Let me stop and say that I hope this entry does not turn you against Warren B Beautiful. Surgery can be abused and misused to create some very scary sights. If used properly and if treated by an experienced MD you can really create a semi flawless look. There are many people who are totally overdone and look a hot mess. There are others like me who know when enough is enough. Some people are totally against tampering with what God created. Let me be the first to say that I LOVE the LORD and I thank Him and praise Him for all that HE has done for me. God give all people gifts specific to the individual. Being a skilled cosmetic surgeon is a gift from God.
So the first step in your journey to surgery is to find a skilled surgeon. Be sure that you do your research. When you begin to do things to your body you don’t want to be cheap about it. WHATEVER you do DON’T go to a foreign country that can be a very big mistake. You create another list of risk when you begin to travel out of the U.S. to have procedures done. Honestly you are not going to save a great deal of money unless you are having some extensive work done. I made the mistake of going out of the states to have a rhinoplasty (nose job). My result is ok but I really wish I would have done it here so I am doing it again. Step two: make sure that you have realistic goals. Don’t go trying to recreate your face to look like someone you are not… you will hate it. Once you have surgery done you will be in shock when you see yourself for the first time. You may not like your look once the bandage comes off. Trust me honey once the swelling goes down and you get accustomed to the new you… YOU WILL BE IN LOVE all over again!!!! After your first procedure you will be hooked. I totally wish I could afford to have everything on my plastic wish list done. We all know that surgery can be pricy so I will be doing a little at a time. Yes I know what you are thinking…. “What does he need to do to his face”…. My response “Just wait and see”. Finally I know that you are all wondering what I have done so far sorry that is one beauty secret I cannot share. Please let me know if you have done, are planning to, or would like to have work done… Always remember that natural beauty is totally amazing. No doctor can produce anything greater than what God has given us. Fact is that many of us are simply not satisfied and there is nothing wrong with that either. Like it or not surgery is here to stay just be modest and educated about what you are getting into. Till later be beautiful!!!

Today American’s have their eyes fix on the newest beauty and fashion icon. This woman has taken the fashion and beauty world by surprise. Her new life in The White House sets the perfect stage for more fashion, more beauty, and more glam. Michelle Obama is a woman who is in a league of her own when it comes to her personal style. She plays by her own rules and according to me is winning every match. Now I will say that I wish she had me there for the Inaugural Balls. For the swearing in she was DONE to the MAX (meaning: I really liked what she had on). Ladies we can now look to Madame First Lady for all of our beauty needs. Her layered bob which is blown out, flat ironed, and bumped for body is the perfect style of any woman. I have given you the steps to achieve this look just make sure that you get a professional cut. The cut is the foundation of any good hairstyle. Shampoo your hair and condition it well. Apply a bit of leave-in conditioner and a bit of styling mousse for added body. Now you can either sit under a dryer for about 20 to remove most of the moisture. Or you can blow dry it with a hand dryer and a paddle brush. Once the hair is dry apply a small amount of styling serum and flat iron. Once the hair is straight curl it with a large barrel iron (BUMPER IRON). After the curls are locked in use the paddle brush to wrap the hair around the head. Go ahead and do your makeup and get dressed. Now that you are completely ready take a wide tooth comb and comb your hair down. There you have “The Michelle Obama”. Stay tuned as I will be covering Michelle’s makeup. NOTE: In this photo it seems that Michelle may have had a roller wrap. The hair has been properly shampooed and conditioned. Leave-in applied and hair set on large rollers (be sure not to use a setting agent that will leave a build up). Once the hair is completely dried use a large paddle brush and brush the hair in all directions to get rid of the parts left from the set. Brush all the hair straight down and wrap it around the head. Tighten it up with a boar bristle brush. Sit under a dryer for 15 minutes the comb down and you are done….

Don't Let The Winter Dry Out Your Hair!!!

Many of you may be having some issues with maintaining your hair during the chill of the winter months. It seems that the cold weather tends to dry the hair completely out. During the winter months you need to be sure that you are using your moisturizing conditioners and shampoos. It is also a good idea to do a moisturizing treatment as well. I also know that you ladies like to wear your wool and cotton hats during the winter. Wool and cotton hats are great to protect you from the cold BUT they are the worst for your hair. See wool and cotton absorb your hairs moisture and will dry you out if worn on a daily bases. You should be sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase at night if you are not wearing a silk scarf. You can also use a silk scarf under those damaging hats as a barrier from the dryng materials. These practices will help to maintain healthy hair from the damage that winter can cause. Ok so you just watched one of my all time favorite entertainers... This girl has been through so much and yet she blow this one out the park. Looking so lovely in a black and white get up with a HOTT military jacket... Face was painted to the highest Gods and hair snatched to perfection. Enough about the beauty for a second... As you may know by now I am connected to so many people on different levels and for different reasons. My connection to J.H. is one that I MUST explain. We both auditioned of Idol clearly she got further than I did. The sad thing is that we were both in Tampa, FL (my hometown) when we found out that our mothers passed away. Finally she was back in Tampa to make her debut after all that she had been through. Well Jennifer is my girl and someday I will do her makeup and/or hair. Well beautiful I have a little secret that I would like to share…. I have fallen in love with a Kissable Couture. This new love is the perfect if you are looking for one really soft, glossy, lip. Enough already!!!!!!!! On a serious note one of my cool buddies (AJ Crimson) and Keisha Nash-Witaker (Forest Witaker’s Wife) own the most luxurious lipgloss collection. Kissable Couture launched in the summer of 07 (I think) and has been a hit ever since. These glosses have just the right amount of everything. Just enough color, just enough shine, and they are hydrating as well. I was able to get my hands on some of the collection at the Makeup Show in NYC. When asked what is the most important part of a makeup application I must say it is your brows honey!!! You see it is simple to cover a pimple and easy to cover a scar. Baby it aint that easy to cover a bushy brow trust me I have tried and it does not work. Now there are many ways to create the perfectly arched brow. My first bit of advice as usual would be to seek a professional. Now some people have mastered the art of eyebrow arching and if you are one of those more power to you. If you like most American’s and myself it is not always so easy to do your own brows. Keep in mind this rule of thumb “they are sisters not twins.” This rule simply says that the brows will never be exactly the same. If you are having a hard time deciding which method to go with I hope these basic tips help.

The old fashioned method Straight Razor: this method is pretty painless unless the technician does not know what he or she is doing. You will get a really nice well-defined brow. The down side to the razor is that the hair grows back faster than other methods. If you go with the razor technique it is cheaper but you may have to get them maintained more often.

Then there is plucking… Plucking can be rather painful but once you get accustomed to it the pain is not as bad. With this method you can create a softer shape to your brow. You must be careful because it is easy to over pluck one hair can make a huge difference. If you pluck the hair excessively on a regular bases you can cause permanent hair loss. Most technician use the tweezers in conjunction with other methods just to clean up hairs left behind.

WAXING!!! This is by far I think the most popular. Yes it hurts no matter what people say. The good thing is that the pain wont last that long. With waxing you may not get that chiseled brow effect that you will get from other methods. The results will be more long lasting so you may only need to have the done bi-weekly.
Be sure that the technician is experienced!!!! You don’t want the wax to be too hot as it can tear the skin. I personally don’t think you should wax above the brow as it makes the brows look fake. You may want to stick with plucking the upper portion of the brow.

Threading… This is the newest craze in the states. This technique is a traditional Indian technique and sweetie it is fierce!!!! The biggest draw back is that is can hurt like heck. But the pros are: it is precision, long lasting, and inexpensive. Clearly you can see this is the method that I prefer I think it looks amazing. When I get my brows done I have them threaded.

No matter which method you choose be sure to find a good “Brow Lady…” Once you find a good one STICK WITH HER and I promise she will never let you down. Remember that the brows are the foundation of a beautiful makeup. And even if you decide to go wash face (without makeup) then you can trust that your brows are done so you still look your best.

Well I have a ban against men’s fragrances… I DON’T wear them AT ALL. I found out years ago that there is something about most men’s fragrances that just make my head spin. My dresser is filled with over 30 types of women’s fragrance that compliment my body chemistry to a T. Whenever I wear perfume people always ask “what are you wearing.” One of my favorite fragrances is Elle by YSL. There is something about this fragrance that really moves me. Elle is a wonderful blend of floral and woodsy notes including peony, pink berries, and patchouli. It come in 3 sizes and retail between $61-$109. My bottle is a little less than half full and it is time for another. If you go out and purchase one before I get mine please let me know what you think.

My Idol JOHNNY LAVOY

When asked whom do I look up to in this business there are 2 names that come to mind… clearly Johnny is one of them. I came to know Johnny all because of my motivation (Erin B.). Erin had been talking about this guy who was an amazing artist and hairstylist. At first I was like well if he does both then his makeup may not be that great. Well let me be the first to say I was SO WRONG!!!! Erin brought me a makeup magazine that had some of Johnny’s work. When I saw the images I was totally floored. Johnny combined some of the most amazing colors I had ever seen on this beautiful dark chocolate skin. Being that Johnny did hair I felt that we had a bit of a common bond. So a few months went by and Erin went to New York Fashion Week and worked with Billy B. (the 2nd name that comes to mind). While in NY Erin calls me frantically and says “You will never believe who asked about you by name.” At this point I am going crazy and responded “Girl WHO???” She said Johnny Lavoy!!!!! I was floored again… So I guess by now you know that I am a huge fan of this guy. My intrigue goes beyond him knowing me on a first name bases. You see Johnny Lavoy is humble, talented, and approachable. He has over 20 years of experience as a salon owner and he also works for Ford Models under Ford Artist. This guy really inspires me to keep my head in the game!!! Johnny here is to you kid!!!

Some folk are really relaxed when it comes to skincare. Many of us go to the CVS and local Wal-Mart store to purchase product to treat our faces with. I will admit I was a Neutrogena junkie for a long time. Honestly I think that if you must buy from CVS Neutrogena is the best. Origin’s is rather inexpensive and for my skin seems to be rather gentle. I LOVE Origin’s “Checks and Balances” which is a VERY frothy foaming face wash. If you don’t mind spending a little more and you want to see real results I would suggest you go with Obagi Nu-Derm. Now I am one who gets all excited about new systems. Once the newness wears off I kinda take short cuts. When I am on my Obagi I see my skin at it’s best. The system will cause you to peel but I promise if you can take that you will be amazed at the outcome. Now yes once again anything good is worth paying for. You may also have to go to a dermatologist or a Med Spa to get your hand on this product… I hope you enjoy!!!!

Bold Eye Nude Lip

With this makeup look I decided to try something a little different for me. I wanted to do a bold smokey eye with a totally nude lip. Now I do smokey eyes a lot and I try to do them in various colors. I wanted to keep the skin nice and flawless. In the eyes I used the paintpot in painterly as my base… I LOVE PAINTPOTS!!! I applied a light white shimmer shadow on the lid. In the crease I used knight divine though the entire crease and black tied just about ½ way and carbon on the corner. My favorite blacktrack to line the top. Engraved liner on the bottom smuged with a 219 brush. On the cheeks I did a hint of bronzer with a soft pink blush. Lip conditioner on the lip with concealer and stripdown MAC lip pencil. Filled the brows in with lingering eyebrow pencil MAC….

Foundation Is Key!!!

Ok beautiful lets just go over a few basic tips when it comes to FOUNDATION!!!! First and foremost you never want your foundation to look like you are wearing any at all.. The purpose is not to change you skin color or to hide any major imperfections. Foundation is used to provide a natural flawless finish to the skin. The most two most important parts of wearing foundation is one be sure that you have the correct tone and formula. Secondly you MUST have the correct shade!!! If when you look in the mirror you seem to have something on your skin the you have something wrong… Here I have provided a list of formulas and the results. I hope this helps!!!!

Stick Foundation: Is more of a cream foundation and concealer in one. It works best for normal to dry skin. It will provide more coverage and is very simple to apply and work AMAZING for photos!!!

Liquid Foundation: Most common foundation because it works for just about everyone. Liquid foundation gives good coverage and there are many formulas to choose from. A majority of cosmetic companies have different forms of liquid foundation for normal, dry, combination and oily.

Cream Foundation: This can be used as a concealer or as a foundation and it gives flawless coverage. Cream foundation is mostly used on dry skin because it tends to be of a heavier consistency.

Mousse Foundation: Mousse foundation is a cream foundation which has been whipped. It provides a sheerer coverage. It is great for more mature skin because mousse foundation will not settle into fine lines.

Tinted Moisturizer: Tinted moisturizer is a moisturizer which had a bit of color added. It gives little coverage which makes it GREAT for people who don’t want much coverage. I LIVE FOR TINTED MOISTURIZER!!!

Cream to Powder: It is used mostly for oily skin and gives more of a medium coverage.

Powder Foundation: Powder foundation is ideal for people who are low maintainance when it comes to makeup. Good for young girl who have just begin wearing makeup. Be cautious when choosing the shade with this one. Once the oil in your skin mixes with this foundation it will get a tad darker.
Spray Foundation: This is a fairly new product which provides a sheer coverage. I think spray works great as a summer foundation because it is so light. DO NOT spray it directly to the face as it can get into your hair and eyes. Spray the product on the brush then apply to the face.

This is my first post and I am SO EXCITED!!! I hope that you all find the information here relevant and useful. My blog spot is a place where man and women can come and gain information on skin maintenance, hair care, and makeup. With all the products and services now provided to today’s consumer it is easy for all of up to get confused. Be sure that you find products that work well for you and your skin type. If you have sensitive skin try to go for products that have more natural ingredients like Origin’s or Kiehl’s. On the other had if you have problem skin that is prone to outbreaks I would highly recommend that you see a dermatologist who can give you product that you cant purchase in the stores. Your skin is your passport and it is the first thing that people notice so you MUST take good care of it. What better way to showcase your sassy haircut and designer apparel than to have a gorgeous glow to wear with it. My favorite lashes happen to be MAC #20. These lashes are half lashes and easy to apply. They give you just enough everything without being too much. You can wear the #20’s on a daily bases or save them for specials events. I have found that these lashes are very natural yet they still give you a hint of drama. NOW here is a secret if you cant get to you local MAC store to get #20 lashes… Go to CVS and get a pair of nice full lashes cut them in half now you have 2 for 1. When applying lashes be sure to do you entire eye makeup first (liner and mascara as well). Apply lashes the apply an addition coat of fluidline and mascara.

222 MAC Tapered Blending Brush- Is GREAT for blending the crease. Will give you a fine defined crease if used properly.

219 MAC Pencil Brush- This brush is one that use on EVERY client. It is great for blending the liner to create more of a smoked effect. You can also use it in the crease to “cut” the crease and make the crease color more defined.
